Hahahahahahahaha what the fuck.
ALRIGHT so Hello The Band consists — consisted? — of John Flansburgh and Joshua Fried, who you may know as a long-time TMBG collaborator who does a lot of strange electronic stuff. Boy howdy, is this weird. They sample the Amen Break in this one?
Okay, that's a lie, they only sample the amen break on Town To Town because the backing beat is a sped up Straight Outta Compton. See? That's better, and it makes more sense.
This EP feels like it's on ice, moving too fast and you won't be able to catch it. It's full of strange, bizarre little ditties. John Flansburgh sings Like A Girl? on (Since You Joined) The Corporation. There's a strange, evil little ditty on Sodium Mask that genuinely feels like it could have come from an entirely different band.
Lullaby To Nightmares got remade for Long Tall Weekend, but I like this version a lot more. The samples on Hello Hello are borderline evil, despite the lyrics not being written by either Flans or Joshua.
I don't know, this EP is so strange that I genuinely am losing track of how to write about it. You should go listen to it.
