This CD is devoid of whimsy and fun and I do not like it. See Mink Car for more info, it's from the Mink Car era. I love They Must Be Big Dudes or something.

What do I hate about Mink Car production, and the production on this promo CD released for a TV show? It's sterile, clinical, it's got a weird filter on the horns, it's got synths that pretend like they aren't synths... I don't know. I really don't know. Truly, genuinely, I have no Earthly idea how to talk about music in the way that I want to, maybe that's a skill to build. I think it sounds bad. I think Mink Car sounds bad and I do not like it, and I think this sounds worse somehow.

How is Cyclops Rock somehow worse on this? I don't even like Cyclops Rock but they made it worse somehow. The horns sound bad (Skattelite Transmission). Every time they "drop" on Substitute Teacher I think the iCarly theme is about to play — maybe that's just because we've been reading I'm Glad My Mom Died.

I actually do like Boss of Me. If it was on Mink Car (which it was, the first time I listened to Mink Car) it would be the best song on Mink Car.

We listened to this on our friend Alice's TV, and then watched "Malcolm in the Middle Funny Moments" compilation. It mostly sucked aside from a bit where two women were repeatedly crashing cars into each other. They played Pencil Rain during a fight with a kid in a wheelchair involving pudding, and immediately after the song ended they called him a cripple. I was then subjected to a supremely racist bit about Malcolm's grandma being a bigot, and so Malcolm's family asked some black people to come into the house to scare her off.

Anyway I don't like this promo CD very much.
