I do not have a lot to say about My Murdered Remains, aside from the fact that each song had a corresponding music video in the Dial-A-Song 2018 run on which this was based. I think that's neat, and a labor of love. I also want to note that a lot of these tracks were not written week-of like the 2015 Dial-A-Song run, which is important; recording for I Like Fun started in 2017. A lot of these tracks premiered on Dial-A-Song after their release. This is strange.
In general, my opinion is this: My Murdered Remains is excellent and you should listen to it. The bonus disc, More Murdered Remains, is mostly only of value to completionists, with This Is Only Going To Go One Way and Thankful For Your Service being standouts.
I want to talk about a few standout tracks, though. I don't think that The Communists Have The Music is actually about endorsing communism. Instead, I think it's about the idea of choosing politics solely based on aesthetics; the kind of assignment of political engagement you get when you are willing to say "the fascists have the outfits". It's about Marxist Twitter LARPers, not actual Marxism. I also think that TMBG is down with communism separately.
Dog is about Jade Harley, which is insane, because Push Back The Hands off I Like Fun is about June Eg8ert from Godfeels. That's funny.
I think that This Is Only Going To Go One Way off More Murdered Remains definitely hammers the themes of death that TMBG has been working with until this point. Similarly, I've Been Seeing Things is very much Apophonia 2.
